Trail Conditions

2/21/17 February should be a month full of some of the best snow conditions we see, but it seems Mother Nature has a different story to tell. The past week of warm weather and yesterday's downpouring rain have hit the trails hard. Forrest from Hungry Jack Lodge took a quick ride this morning and here is a quick update from him. The Clearwater Spur trail was mostly snow covered, bumpy but rideable. The G trail from the Expressway to Hungry Jack spur was bumpy with a good number of bare spots, but rideable today. Trails seem to be good where there is some tree cover hiding the sun, but open areas are showing Mother Earth fast.  Trails down towards Devils Track Lake are still snow covered with some bare spots but rideable. The lakes are water covered but still safe for now. Riding from town the snow is pretty much gone until you get over the hill. Hopefully we get some more snow and maybe the trails can get better for a couple more weeks. As of now we are not able to groom with the warm temperatures.

February 4, 2017 8th Annual FUN RUN

The Fun Run has become an annual event for many snowmobile enthusiasts on the North Shore! Open to anyone and everyone by snowmobile, car, and even by plane. The cost to participate in the Fun Run is $20 per person.

The main starting point and registration will take place at our grooming shack club house. The groomer shed is located off the Devil Track road on South Shore drive (there will be signs). We recommend parking at the old airport runway and riding sleds over as parking is limited at the groomer shack. Registration will begin at 9am. If you are staying up the trail you can also register at Hungry Jack Lodge. You will need to collect a stamp from each participating business, which includes SkyPort Lodge (formerly The Landing), Gunflint Pines, Windigo, Trail Center, Hungry Jack Lodge and the groomer shack. If you get all six stops you will be dealt 6 cards upon returning to the groomer shed. You will be dealt one card for each stop once back to the shed. Everyone must be back by 5:30pm in order to be dealt the cards. Cash prizes for low and high hand. Food and drink specials along the way at participating stops.

DJ - Raffles - Food - Prizes all begin at 6pm at the Groomer Shed. For more information email us at cookcountyridgeriders@hotmail.com

As always this is a fun event and we want everyone to be safe and ride smart. Please use caution on the trails!

All are welcome to attend party at no charge!
